The Fifth annual NCTU-cup Connect6 open tournament

  • The first meeting room, EECS Building, National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Time:

  • 9:00AM, 29th August, 2010.

Registration:

  • Fee: Free.
  • Three  groups, Dan-level, A and B.
    Group Dan-level: The players who awarded dan certificates from Taiwan Connect6 Association.
    Group A: The professional players.
    Group B: The amateur players.

Prizes: (Group Dan-level)

  • Gold: NT$10,000.
  • Silver: NT$5,000.
  • Bronze: NT$3,000.
  • The above three will also be invited to attend the second annual Man-Machine Connect6 Contest.

Rules:

  • Players and stones: There are two players.  The first player, called Black here, holds a set of black stones, like Go or Go-Moku games.  The second player, called White here, holds a set of white stones.
  • Game boards: 19x19 Go boards. 
  • Game moves:  Black plays first and puts only one black stone on one unoccupied intersection (or called grid).  Subsequently, Black and White alternately put two of their own stones on two unoccupied grids. 
    In Group Dan-level, it is allowed to place NO pieces in a move, which is called a PASS move. 
  • Game winning: The one who first gets six or more consecutive stones (horizontally, vertically or diagonally) of her/his own wins.  When all squares on the board are placed without connecting six, the game draws.
    In Group Dan-level, the first person who made a PASS move wins. 
  • Time Limit: Each player has 30 minutes.
